Taking the first step is often the hardest part. Most men who visit a lodge for the first time arrive a little nervous and leave wondering why they waited so long. Here is what actually happens, so you can come along with confidence.
You Are a Guest, Not a Candidate
A first visit carries no obligation whatsoever. You are simply invited to meet the brethren, share a meal, and see the fellowship for yourself. There is nothing to prepare and nothing to prove — you are there to ask questions and to decide, in your own time, whether it feels right for you.
What to Wear and Bring
A jacket and tie is the usual dress, in keeping with the dignity of the evening, but no one will mind if you are unsure. Bring nothing but yourself and your questions. If you would like, your partner is welcome to meet the members' families too.
The Evening Itself
You will typically join the brethren for dinner at our festive board, where the conversation is easy and the welcome genuine. You will not be asked to take part in any ceremony as a visitor, and nothing will be sprung on you. It is, quite simply, a good evening among good company.
